Maria and Rus found Northeast Ohio Medical University's’ Student Run Free Clinic because their dentist is across the street. They were able to find insurance through the marketplace, however, their deductible is $13,000, which makes going to the doctor completely unaffordable. Maria stressed that the free clinic was “a lifesaver” and that she and Rus “wouldn’t be able to get treatment” if it weren’t for the clinic.
Beyond receiving care, Maria and Rus are thrilled they “can give something back” to the students through education. Rus explained that the student-run free clinic is “a two-way partnership. The clinic helps the patient and the patient helps the clinical experience for the doctors to be.”
